Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to undertake a significant visit to Gujarat and Daman on Friday, June 5, 2026. During this visit, the Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation, inaugurate, and lay the foundation stones for a wide array of development projects with a total valuation exceeding 22000 crore. These initiatives are strategically designed to bolster infrastructure, healthcare, and industrial growth across Gujarat, Daman and Diu, and Lakshadweep.
Massive Infrastructure Push in Surat
The Prime Minister's itinerary will commence in the Surat district of Gujarat. At approximately 2:30 PM, he will visit the Hazira area to review the progress of ongoing industrial and infrastructure projects that are vital for the region's economic landscape. Following this, at around 4:15 PM, a major event will be held where projects worth more than 18800 crore will be inaugurated, dedicated, or have their foundation stones laid. A key highlight of this session is the dedication of Package VI and Package VII of the 8-lane access-controlled Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway to the nation, which is expected to Notably enhance road connectivity.
To improve accessibility in tribal regions and facilitate smoother travel to the Statue of Unity, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the four-laning of critical sections of NH-56. The healthcare sector in Surat will also see a major upgrade with the inauguration of a modern 220-bed ESIC hospital. On top of that, the Prime Minister will launch transmission network expansion projects under the Inter-State Transmission System to increase power evacuation capacity in Gujarat, while other projects include power distribution upgrades in Valsad, waste treatment and disposal infrastructure in Dahej PCPIR and Sarigam GIDC, and utility projects for the Jambusar Bulk Drug Park.
Development Initiatives in Daman
Later in the evening, at approximately 6:15 PM, Prime Minister Modi will arrive in Daman to unveil projects worth 2970 crore. He will inaugurate the new NAMO Airport Terminal building, which is set to enhance regional air connectivity. Also, the NAMO Hospital will be dedicated to the nation, a facility designed to serve approximately 1500 OPD patients daily. The Prime Minister will inaugurate and dedicate projects worth 1340 crore and lay the foundation stones for new initiatives valued at 1630 crore. These new projects include an Iconic Bridge, the Daman Convention Center, and a NIFT Campus in Daman, all aimed at boosting tourism, investment, and employment.
Strategic Port Projects for Lakshadweep
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stones for four vital port projects in Lakshadweep, worth approximately 885 crore. These projects involve the development of port facilities on the eastern and western coasts of Kalpeni Island and Kadmat Island. The new infrastructure will provide year-round safe berthing for large passenger vessels and cruise ships up to 300 meters in length. These integrated facilities will support passenger and cargo operations, fishery management, fuel distribution, ice supply, and boat repair, marking a significant step in the maritime development of the islands.
