Rajasthan / Prisoners canteens started in state jails, prisoners will be able to buy goods worth three and a half thousand every month

Prison canteens have been started in many jails of the state. Here prisoners will get food items, confectionery, cosmetics, toiletry, notebooks, pencils and about 43 to 58 types of items of daily use. With the introduction of the canteen, the right material will be made available to the prisoners with transparency.

Cooperation Minister Udayalal Anjana inaugurated the Bandi Canteen to be run by Confed for the prisoners in the Central Jail, Jaipur. Simultaneously, canteens built in Sikar, Sriganganagar, Bhilwara, Dholpur, Kota, Chittorgarh, Bharatpur, Dausa and Kotputli jails were virtually inaugurated. During this, he said that the operation of the canteen would be reviewed in six months and suggestions would be invited. Based on this, more facilities will be increased in the canteen. Also, this model will be started in all the jails of the state.

On this occasion, Prisons Minister Tikaram Julie announced to increase the limit of buying goods from the canteen from Rs 2500 to Rs 3500 on the demand of the prisoners. He said that good quality goods would be made available in these canteens run by cooperative consumer stores. On this occasion, he talked to the prisoners and listened to their problems.

Prisoners in jails are not habitual criminals

Director General of Police Jail Bhupendra Kumar Dak said that there are about 23 thousand prisoners in 140 jails of the state. During the inspection of these jails, it came to the fore that a large number of prisoners are not habitual offenders. Efforts are being made continuously to develop the attitude of good work in them, so that they can live life with self-respect in the society. He said that this effort of Confed and jail administration to provide quality material to the prisoners would prove to be convenient for the prisoners.
