Modi Surname Case: The Supreme Court has given relief to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the Modi surname case. Along with this, the Supreme Court has also put a stay on the two-year sentence given to Rahul Gandhi. Now questions are being raised whether Rahul Gandhi's parliament membership will be restored immediately after this decision of the Supreme Court. Law experts say that after this decision of the Supreme Court, Rahul Gandhi's membership can be restored. Along with this, he will also be able to contest the next Lok Sabha elections.

However, Rahul Gandhi's membership will not be restored immediately. For this a process has to be followed and Rahul Gandhi will have to apply in the Lok Sabha. After this, his membership of the Lok Sabha will be restored.

Now what will Rahul Gandhi have to do next?

After the decision of the Supreme Court, the Lok Sabha secretariat will have to submit a report on behalf of Rahul Gandhi. In this, referring to today's order of the Supreme Court, a request will be made to restore the membership of the Lok Sabha. After this, the officers of the Lok Sabha Secretariat will study the order and only after that the order will be issued to restore the membership of Rahul Gandhi. Although there is no time limit for this, but the officials will have to do this as soon as possible.

Lakshadweep's NCP MP Mohammad Faizal was also disqualified in January, but his membership was reinstated in March after he moved the Supreme Court. The Election Commission had also announced a by-election on Faisal's seat, which was later cancelled. However, since the cancellation of Rahul Gandhi's membership, the by-election was not declared in his Lok Sabha constituency Wayanad.

What did the Supreme Court say?

During the hearing on the punishment given to Rahul Gandhi in the Modi surname case, the Supreme Court questioned the lower court as to why Rahul Gandhi was given maximum punishment in this case. At the same time, with this statement, the Supreme Court stayed the sentence of Rahul Gandhi. The court said that Rahul Gandhi's statement was objectionable, but the reason for awarding the maximum punishment for this should have been told to the lower court. While this decision of the Supreme Court has given relief to Rahul Gandhi, it has infused energy among the workers of the Congress party.

However, make it clear here that the hearing on this matter has not been completed yet. The Supreme Court has stayed the conviction of Rahul Gandhi, with this his membership will be restored, but the hearing on this matter will continue even further.

I am coming… a wave of happiness in Congress

After the decision of the Supreme Court in this matter related to defamation, the Congress party is seeing it as its victory. While Congress party workers are celebrating, Rahul Gandhi's picture was tweeted from the official Twitter handle of the party. With this picture, the party wrote, 'I am coming... questions will continue.' Congress party leaders say that Rahul Gandhi may come to the house only during the monsoon session of Parliament.
