Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) officials said that during the last 24 hours, two people died in Cachar district of southern Assam, while earlier five people were killed in landslides in Dima Hasao (4) and Lakhimpur (1) districts. died of. According to officials, 6 people are missing in Cachar district due to floods and landslides. However, an unofficial report in Cachar district said that four people, including a child and two middle-aged people, were washed away in different rivers in the district.

811 villages of 24 districts in the grip

An ASDMA bulletin said that 2,02,385 people were affected in 811 villages in 24 districts and around 6,540 houses were partially and completely damaged. Over 33,300 people have taken shelter in 72 relief camps, while the district administration has opened 27 relief distribution centres.

The most affected districts are Cachar, Dima Hasao, Hojai, Charaideo, Darang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Bajli, Baksa, Vishwanath and Lakhimpur. The situation in the hilly section under Dima-Hasao district of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) remained grim on Tuesday as rain continued in the hilly area, affecting the Lumding-Badarpur single line railway route.
