New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi has not met the angry party leader Navjot Singh Sidhu in Punjab Congress. Before reaching the house of party President Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi has confirmed this in a conversation with the media. In fact, there is a dispute going on in Punjab between Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu for a long time.

Since Monday, there were reports in the media that Navjot Singh Sidhu will reach Delhi from Punjab and may also meet Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday. It was also being said that in this meeting, Sidhu will keep his talk about Amarinder Singh in front of top leaders. Regarding this meeting, it was being said that during the meeting, efforts will be made to remove Sidhu's displeasure from the party high command. But now before leaving for 10 Janpath, Rahul Gandhi has said that he has no meeting with party leader Navjot Singh Sidhu.

Let us tell you that next year assembly elections are to be held in 5 states of the country. Punjab is also included in these states. Therefore, the party does not want to allow any kind of factionalism going on in Punjab Congress to come out now. Recently, Sidhu had targeted the Captain Sarkar, alleging laxity in the investigation of Bargari case and Kotkapura firing. Navjot Singh Sidhu was already angry about some other issues. But after this statement of Sidhu, the internal strife in Punjab Congress had come to the surface.

To end this ongoing tussle in the party, a committee of three members was formed in the Congress. This committee had submitted its report to the high command after going to Punjab and meeting the party leaders. In its report, the committee comprising Mallikarjun Kharge, Harish Rawat and Jai Prakash Agarwal had advised Amarinder Singh to continue as the Chief Minister. It was also said at that time that to end Sidhu's displeasure, he could be given a Deputy CM or a big post in the party.
