297 people have been confirmed dead in the Ahmedabad plane crash. 241 out of 242 passengers on board Air India flight AI-171 were killed. The plane crashed into the medical college hostel, where 56 people were killed. PM Modi and Air India CEO reached the spot and took stock of the situation.

Ahmedabad Plane Crash: So far 297 people have been confirmed dead in the horrific plane crash in Ahmedabad. There is a wave of mourning in the whole country due to the crash of Air India's plane AI-171 going to London with 242 passengers and crew members. 241 people present in the plane have lost their lives, including 229 passengers and 12 crew members. Miraculously only one passenger has survived. Apart from this, the plane fell on the hostel of a medical college, killing 56 people present there.

Prime Minister Modi took stock of the incident

Within 24 hours of the plane crash, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Ahmedabad and first inspected the accident site. Seeing the horror of the accident, he expressed deep condolences. After this, PM Modi reached the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad where he met the injured passengers and the injured students of the college hostel.

Home Minister Shah has already visited

Earlier, Home Minister Amit Shah also visited the incident site and took stock of the situation. He had instructed to speed up relief and rescue operations in collaboration with the state administration and relief teams.

High level committee formed to investigate the accident

The government has formed a high level committee to investigate this horrific plane crash, which includes aviation, defense and technical experts. The committee has been instructed to submit a preliminary report in 30 days.

Air India MD and CEO also reached

Air India MD and CEO Campbell Wilson have also reached Ahmedabad. He visited the accident site and took stock of the situation and discussed the possible causes with the technical teams. Air India has said that it will provide assistance to the families of the deceased and the compensation process has been started.
