Akanksha Dubey Death Case: Allahabad HC Verdict Today on CBI Probe Petition

The Allahabad High Court is set to deliver its verdict today on a petition seeking a CBI investigation into the death of Bhojpuri actress Akanksha Dubey. Her mother, Madhu Dubey, moved the court questioning the police probe and seeking a central agency investigation.

Today marks a significant turning point in the investigation into the death of Bhojpuri actress Akanksha Dubey. The Allahabad High Court is scheduled to deliver its crucial verdict today, which will determine the future course of this high-profile case. Akanksha Dubey's body was discovered under mysterious circumstances in a hotel room in Varanasi on March 26, 2023. Following the incident, the actress's mother, Madhu Dubey, filed an FIR against singer Samar Singh at the Sarnath police station in Varanasi, alleging that he abetted her daughter's suicide.

Verdict on the Demand for CBI Investigation

While the case dominated headlines for a considerable period, the momentum had slowed down over time. However, the petitioner, Madhu Dubey, expressed lack of faith in the local police's investigation and approached the court seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), while the Allahabad High Court will today announce its decision on this petition regarding the transfer of the case to the CBI.

Decision Reserved After Arguments on May 4

The legal proceedings saw extensive arguments from all involved parties, which concluded on May 4. Following the completion of these arguments, the High Court had reserved its judgment. In this case of suspicious death, an FIR was registered against Bhojpuri singers Samar Singh and Sanjay Singh. The police have already filed a charge sheet against both accused under sections related to abetment of suicide and other relevant charges.

Current Status of Accused and Legal Proceedings

As of now, both the accused, Samar Singh and Sanjay Singh, are out of jail, while although the police have submitted the charge sheet, the proceedings of the trial in the lower court are currently stayed by the High Court. The division bench comprising Justice Siddharth and Justice Vinay Kumar Dwivedi will deliver the verdict today. This judgment is highly anticipated as it will decide whether the investigation remains with the local police or is handed over to a central agency.

The court's decision will determine if the legal troubles for Samar Singh and Sanjay Singh will intensify. Madhu Dubey has consistently raised questions about the police's methodology and maintains that only a CBI probe can ensure justice for her deceased daughter.
