Alwar Borewell Rescue: 9 Year Old Bhanu Trapped 50 Feet Deep While Chasing Kite

A distressing incident occurred in the Alwar district of Rajasthan on Monday evening, where a 9-year-old boy fell into an open borewell. The accident took place in Butoli village, located within the Ramgarh assembly constituency. The young boy, identified as Bhanu, the son of Sheeshram, was reportedly chasing a kite when the mishap occurred. The borewell is estimated to be around 400 feet deep, but fortunately, the child is currently trapped at a depth of approximately 50 to 55 feet. The local administration and rescue teams have launched a massive operation to bring the child out safely.

How the Accident Occurred

According to the information received from the site, Bhanu was running towards the fields in Butoli village, which falls under the Laxmangarh police station area. He was trying to catch a kite that had been cut and was drifting towards the open fields. In his excitement, he didn't notice an old, unused borewell that was covered with a stone. The stone was already partially displaced from its original position. As soon as Bhanu stepped on the stone, it gave way, and he plunged directly into the 400-foot deep shaft. Witnesses stated that the borewell had been inactive for a long time and wasn't properly secured, leading to this dangerous situation.

Rescue Operations and Technical Efforts

Immediately after the incident, villagers rushed to the spot and alerted the local authorities. The rescue operation began shortly after the police and administrative teams arrived. Currently, two JCB machines are being used to excavate the area surrounding the borewell to create a parallel path to reach the child, while the rescue teams are working cautiously to ensure that the soil doesn't cave in further. Preliminary reports suggest that the child is safe and conscious, as his voice can be heard from inside the borewell. This has provided a glimmer of hope to the rescuers and the family members waiting anxiously at the surface.

Administrative Presence and Support

The gravity of the situation brought several high-ranking officials and political leaders to the scene. Ramgarh MLA Sukhwant Singh reached Butoli village to oversee the rescue efforts personally. He interacted with the officials and directed them to use all available resources to ensure the child's safety. Along with the MLA, SDM Manisha Resham, Tehsildar Manish Kumar Sharma, DSP Narendra Kumar, and Station House Officer Rajesh Kumar are present at the site to coordinate the operation. The district administration has also summoned specialized teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to assist in the delicate rescue process.

The incident has once again raised serious concerns regarding the safety of open and abandoned borewells in rural areas, while villagers mentioned that the borewell in the field had been closed for a long time, but the lack of a permanent seal made it a hidden death trap. The crowd at the site is being managed by the police to prevent any interference with the rescue machinery. Meanwhile, the family of Bhanu is in a state of deep shock and grief, with his parents inconsolable.
