On the orders of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, 2 thousand chicks of Kadaknath breed from Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh have been sent to Ranchi.

According to the information, a cooperative society based in Madhya Pradesh has sent 2,000 chicks of Kadaknath breed, famous for high protein, to a farm in Ranchi, Jharkhand on the orders of former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Jhabua Collector Somesh Mishra said that 2,000 'Kadaknath' chicks procured by Mahendra Singh Dhoni from the local cooperative have been sent to the cricketer's home town Ranchi in a vehicle on Friday. It is a welcome move that a popular personality like Dhoni has shown interest in the Kadaknath Chicken variety. One can order these hatchlings through online mode, this will benefit the tribal people of the district.

At the same time, the head of Jhabua Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dr. IS Tomar said that Dhoni had placed the order sometime back, but due to the outbreak of bird flu, the chicks could not be supplied at that time. The order was given by Dhoni to Vinod Meda, who runs a cooperative organization related to the production of Kadaknath in Rundipara village of Jhabua. All the 2,000 Kadaknath chicks sent to Ranchi have been vaccinated, with Dhoni's manager asking them to ensure that chick-rearing facilities are developed at the cricketer's farm house.

Vinod Meda said that he would also present a traditional bow and arrow to Dhoni as a symbol of the tribal culture of Jhabua. The Madhya Pradesh government had launched a Kadaknath app in 2018 so that people could order the chicks online.

According to Dr. IS Tomar, the cost of one day Kadaknath chicks is around Rs 75, while the cost of 15 days and 28 days old chicks is Rs 90 and Rs 120 respectively.

Let us tell you that Kale Kadaknath chicken meat of Jhabua district got Geographical Indication (GI) tag in 2018 after a legal battle with Chhattisgarh.
