Jawaharlal Nehru University / Centre says No Arrests were made so far in connection with 2020 JNU violence.

On Tuesday, the Central government enlightened Parliament that city Police haven’t been in remission of anyone thus far in reference to the violence that happened within the Jawaharlal Nehru University in January 2020.


Whereas replying to the question of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Member of Parliament (MP) Dayanidhi Maran, minister of state for home Nityanand Rai aforesaid the Delhi Police have set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Crime Branch to research 3 cases registered at Vasant Kunj police headquarters in south Delhi concerning the January 2020 violence in JNU campus. “The investigation conducted inter-alia includes the examination of witnesses; assortment and analysis of footages; and examination of known suspects. As reported by city Police, no arrest has been created in these cases” Rai more aforesaid in Lok Sabha.

Tagging the reply, the DMK leader tweeted, “Sad to ascertain that a year and later, no progress has been made to deliver justice to the scholars of JNU.”


On January 5, 2020, around a hundred covert individuals, armed with rods and hammers, unleashed violence at the JNU campus, offensive students and hunt hostels and alternative buildings for four hours before the police intervened, exploit thirty-six students, staff and lecturers injured. associate FIR against the attack was filed and also the case was transferred to the Crime Branch.

JNU Students Union president Aishe Ghosh was among the several students who suffered severe injuries within the attack and her photos with an injured head triggered widespread anger across the nation.


Soon, the JNU students launched major protests against the attack each within and out of doors the boundaries of the campus. many student unions and schools stood in commonality and protests emerged in varied cities like Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad, metropolis and Ahmedabad.

 

Many opposition leaders had denounced the violence and defendant the central government from being concerned about the attack on students. However, the BJP had aforesaid that the violence was “ a desperate try by forces of anarchy, who are determined to use students as cannon fodder”.
