Gujrat | Seven Gujarat Congress MLAs voted in favor of Draupadi Murmu. However, the Congress has so far failed to trace the MLAs who went across party lines and voted for the NDA candidate. State Congress President Jagdish Thakor has said that no disciplinary action will be taken against the MLAs who cross-voted as the party is yet to identify them. “At present no action is being taken. Thakor had said a day earlier that he would be expelled from the party by taking strict action against cross-voting MLAs. Now their tone has changed.

Yashwant Sinha got seven votes less

When votes were counted on Thursday, 63 Congress MLAs and 57 MLAs voted in favor of opposition-backed candidate Yashwant Sinha, despite the support of the lone independent MLA. At the same time, NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu got 121 votes. Whereas BJP has 111 MLAs in the assembly. This means that Murmu got 10 more votes, while Yashwant Sinha got seven votes less than expected.
