Maharashtra Political Crisis: Congress is with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray in the ongoing political crisis in Maharashtra. The party has made it clear that it will support every decision of Uddhav Thackeray. But many leaders of Maharashtra Congress do not agree with this stand of the party. He believes that supporting Shiv Sena by going beyond a limit can harm the party. Therefore, the party should use this opportunity to strengthen itself.

Many party leaders, including state Congress President Nana Patole, have been advocating for contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections alone. This demand has intensified within the party after the rebellion of Eknath Shinde in Shiv Sena. A state Congress leader said that in the 2019 assembly elections, Shiv Sena had contested on 126 seats, out of which it was contesting on 113 seats with Congress and NCP.

A party leader said that the need of the hour was to form a coalition government with Shiv Sena. But right now Shiv Sena is very weak. Party MLAs and workers are divided. In such a situation, the Congress should focus on strengthening itself. Because, in the last election, there were about two dozen seats where Shiv Sena defeated Congress. In a dozen of these seats, the party came second.

In such a situation, instead of announcing to support every decision of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, the party should respect the sentiments of the workers. Because, in the seat where Shiv Sena won, the workers of that area are disappointed. The senior state Congress leader said that we were the number two party in alliance with NCP, Congress has become the number three party in Maha Vikas Aghadi.

State Congress leaders believe that Shiv Sena is in trouble at this time. The rebellion within the party is continuously intensifying. In such a situation, instead of supporting every decision of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, the party should create pressure. So that, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Mahavikas Aghadi alliance can get more seats. In the last Lok Sabha elections, Shiv Sena got 18 seats, Congress got one and NCP got four seats.
