Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani resigned on Saturday. Actually, elections are to be held in Gujarat in 2022 and it is believed that BJP does not want to bet on Vijay Rupani. However, the failure of the Gujarat government during Corona is also being considered as a major reason for the resignation. After Rupani's resignation, speculations are being made about who will sit on the chief minister's chair in the state. BJP is going to hold legislature party meeting on Sunday.


The names that are being discussed in the race for the new Chief Minister of Gujarat include Mansukh Bhai Mandaviya, Cabinet Minister in the Modi government, Gujarat State BJP President CR Patil, Gujarat Deputy CM Nitin Patel, Union Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister Purushottam Rupala and Lakshadweep Lt. Governor Praful Khodbhai Patel's name included


Mansukh Mandaviya

Mansukh Mandaviya has recently been made the Health Minister in the Modi government. He has been made Health Minister in place of Harsh Vardhan. Mansukh Mandaviya reached Rajya Sabha from Gujarat for the first time in the year 2012 and became a member again in 2018. Prior to this, he was also a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly from 2002 to 2007. He is also considered close and confidante of Modi.


Purushottam Rupala

Purushottam Rupala was elected MLA from Amreli in 1991 and has been an MLA from there thrice after that. Became a member of Rajya Sabha in 2016. In 2019, he was made the Minister of Agriculture and Welfare. Recently he has been given the charge of Minister of Animal Husbandry and Dairying.


CR Patil

CR Patil is considered very close to PM Modi. In the year 2020, he was made the President of Gujarat BJP. Patil, 65, is known for promoting technology and development work in his constituency. Patil has also played the responsibility of election of the Prime Minister in Varanasi and is a non-Patidar leader.


Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel

Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel is also included in the Chief Minister's race. Nitin Patel is known as the veteran Patel leader in Gujarat. After the resignation of former Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, Nitin Patel was also in the race for Chief Minister, but at that time BJP handed over the command of the state to Vijay Rupani.


Lt. Governor of Lakshadweep Praful Khodbhai Patel

Along with all this, there is another name which is in the race for the new Chief Minister, that is Lt. Governor of Lakshadweep Praful Khodbhai Patel. It is reported that a decree has also been issued to him to reach Ahmedabad. Rupani is the fourth chief minister to resign in BJP-ruled states in the last three months. Before this, the Chief Minister was changed twice in Uttarakhand, first Trivendra Singh Rawat and then Tirath Singh Rawat was removed and given the command to Pushkar Singh Dhami. Yeddyurappa was replaced in Karnataka in July as well. The Legislative Party meeting is to be held in Gujarat on Sunday and the name of the Chief Minister is likely to be final.
