Congress is emphasizing on hyper-local campaign this time in Gujarat assembly elections. The party plans to bring forward leaders from the non-Patidar community. Also, meetings are being held directly with the voters. At the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party is also putting a lot of emphasis in the state this year. It is being said that the fight is now between the Congress and the AAP in Gujarat, that too against the BJP to become the main opposition party.

AAP has already announced 41 candidates for the assembly elections. It is being delayed by Congress. Political experts believe that AAP is behind the delay in ticket distribution by the Congress high command. In fact, the Congress fears that the party leaders who did not get tickets this time, may fight them by giving them tickets. In the 2017 election, the Congress had won 77 out of 182 victories.

'AAP will not take our place in Gujarat'

Congress MP and national spokesperson Shaktisinh Gohil said, "You will never be able to replace us in Gujarat. The voters here have been against voting for the Third Front. He has rejected the parties led by Shankarsinh Vaghela to Keshubhai Patel. Gujarati pride is the key factor and you are seen as an outsider here. AAP is working like B team of BJP. It is only trying to break the Congress. Many BJP leaders have shown interest in joining AAP. Their sole aim is to harm us, but that is not going to happen.

'Why every election Narendra Modi vs Rahul Gandhi?'

Giving the example of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech, Gohil said that he too has told his supporters not to take Congress lightly. He said that even though he may not be visible in the media, but he is appealing to the people to vote against the BJP. He said, 'This is an assembly election. BJP makes every election Narendra Modi vs Rahul Gandhi. We question the local leaders about this, because they are accountable to the people here. Why can't this election be Jagdish Rathore vs Bhupendra Patel?'

Distance from Gujarat in India pair travel

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is on a visit to India these days. Rahul is being criticized for the fact that his journey is not going to pass through Gujarat. Congress is out of power in the state for the last 27 years. In the last Gujarat assembly elections, Rahul had visited 27 temples in the state. Then questions arose as to why the Congress needed to move away from its secular policy. The Congress was accused of promoting Hindutva. However, Rahul's efforts to bring together 'temple yatra', Patidar, Dalit and OBC leaders increased the party's seats from 61 to 77.
