Lokendra Singh Kalvi: Founder of Shri Rajput Karni Sena and social worker Lokendra Singh Kalvi passed away late on Monday night at SMS Hospital. According to doctors, Kalvi was ill for a long time. He was admitted here in June 2022 after suffering a brain stroke.

Meanwhile, he suffered a cardiac arrest last night and could not be saved. According to the information received from the family, the last rites of Lokendra Singh Kalvi will be performed on Tuesday in his native village Kalvi in Nagaur district. There is a wave of mourning in Rajput society after getting information about Kalvi's demise. A large number of people are reaching their native village. Many leaders including former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, BJP State President Dr. Satish Poonia have expressed condolences on the death of Kalvi.

Karni Sena fiercely opposed films, serials based on Rajput society many times. In 2008, under the leadership of Kalvi, the film maker Ashutosh Gowariker's film 'Jodha Akbar' was opposed in entire Rajasthan. Similarly, protesting against Ekta Kapoor's serial Jodhaa Akbar, a lot of uproar was created at the Literature Festival in Jaipur. In 2018, the Karni Sena also opposed the release of the film Padyamavati. In protest, Kalvi had said in an open forum that the film has been shown against the dignity of the Rajput clan.

Also opposed caste based reservation

Lokendra Singh Kalvi strongly opposed caste based reservation in India. Regarding this, in the year 2006, Kalvi established Shri Rajput Karni Sena. Kalvi was considered a staunch opponent of former chief minister Vasundhara Raje. During Raje's first tenure, Kalvi organized several demonstrations against the policies and schemes of the government. He also gave birth to a new controversy by opposing the caste-based reservation system in India.

Lokendra Singh Kalvi along with Devi Singh Bhati formed the Social Justice Forum in 2003. Along with the demand for upper caste reservation through social justice platform, the campaign for political participation also launched Tej's campaign in the entire state with the slogan of reservation for the neglected and protection of the reserved.

The Samajik Nyay Manch had made it an issue in the 2003 assembly elections. In the 2003 elections, Samajik Nyay Manch got only one seat, except Devi Singh Bhati, no leader from the Manch could win.

Stayed in Congress and BSP as well, later kept away from politics

Lokendra Singh Kalvi joined the Congress before the 2008 assembly elections. In 2014, before the Lok Sabha elections, he had joined the BSP but soon became disillusioned. For a long time, he was disillusioned with politics, he was completely engaged in social work.

Lokendra Singh Kalvi's father Kalyan Singh Kalvi was a Janata Dal politician in Rajasthan. He was elected Member of Parliament to the 9th Lok Sabha in the 1989 general election from Barmer constituency. Kalyan Singh was among the people close to former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar.
