The report alleged internal rifts within the Election Commission, claiming that two Election Commissioners had recorded several objections to CEC Gyanesh Kumar's decisions regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists. This disclosure has provided the opposition with ammunition to question the transparency of the electoral process and the functioning of the poll body.

Demand for Re-elections and CEC's Arrest

Mamata Banerjee has adopted an exceptionally stern stance against CEC Gyanesh Kumar. She has demanded that fresh assembly elections be conducted in West Bengal and other states where polls were held after the implementation of the SIR in 2025.
