UP: BSP supremo Mayawati's strategy worked completely in the Lok Sabha by-elections. By fielding Shah Alam Guddu Jamali in Azamgarh seat, he spoiled the game by creating obstacles in the path of SP by dividing the Muslim votes, then by not fielding a candidate in Rampur, but by stopping the distribution of Dalit votes, he made it easier for the BJP.

If these two votes are combined, then it becomes 570299, which is 51279 less than the total votes that Akhilesh got in the year 2019. It is clear from this that in the Azamgarh seat in the by-election, the game was spoiled due to the non-unilateral vote of the Muslims in the SP. Had it not been so, the SP could have easily won this seat. Mayawati had made it clear that there would be a direct fight between BJP and SP by not fielding candidates in Rampur seat. Most of the Dalit votes in Rampur were likely to go to the BJP, the results show that something similar happened.
