Lok Sabha Election: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President J.P. Nadda on Thursday alleged that the previous Congress governments tried to ensure that the people of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and V.D. Forget Savarkar. But the Modi government “will never let this happen”, he said. In his first visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands after becoming BJP president, Nadda, while addressing an election rally here, said the archipelago will witness a "significant transformation" in the next few years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said, “An effort was made by the Congress to ensure that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Veer (Vinayak Damodar) Savarkar are forgotten, but the Narendra Modi government will never allow this to happen.”

JP Nadda targeted Congress

Nadda said, “We have taken several initiatives such as installing Netaji's statue on the duty path in New Delhi and the proposed memorial in Andaman and Nicobar Islands to honor his legacy. I also appreciate Prime Minister Modi's vision of naming 21 islands after Param Vir Chakra award winners.” He said around Rs 700 crore has been allocated for the new terminal building of Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair. “Under previous Congress governments, the people of the archipelago were deprived of such projects,” he said. So, please be a part of India’s development by helping BJP win this important Lok Sabha seat.”

JP Nadda had come to campaign for elections

The BJP has fielded Bishnu Pad Ray against sitting Congress MP Kuldeep Rai Sharma on the lone Lok Sabha seat from Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Voting on this seat will be held on April 19. Attacking the opposition alliance 'India' as "arrogant", Nadda said most of its leaders are "either in jail or on bail". “They are all corrupt and are spewing venom against Modi ji because he has pledged to eliminate corruption from the country,” he said. He said that the Modi government started many developmental activities for the island.
