The NEET 2026 paper leak case in Rajasthan has escalated into a full-blown political confrontation between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress. The controversy currently centers around the identity and political affiliations of the accused, Dinesh Binwal. The dispute, which began with a sharp attack by former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday, saw a rebuttal from BJP State President Madan Rathore. However, the situation intensified on Thursday when the Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Tika Ram Jully, presented evidence that directly challenged the BJP's stance of non-association with the accused.
Ashok Gehlot's Allegations and Questions for SOG
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was the first to launch a formal offensive against the state government regarding this matter, while he claimed to 'expose' the government by stating that Dinesh Binwal, who has been apprehended in the NEET case, is a prominent BJP leader. Gehlot further alleged that several members of Binwal's family are already employed in various government positions, suggesting a deeper network of influence. Raising serious concerns about the investigation, Gehlot questioned the role of the Special Operations Group (SOG). He demanded to know why FIRs have not yet been registered against the primary accused in the case, accusing the authorities of deliberate delay.
BJP's Defense and Madan Rathore's Clarification
Responding to the allegations leveled by Gehlot, BJP State President Madan Rathore dismissed the claims as complete falsehoods. In an official statement released late Wednesday evening, the BJP clarified that the individual in question, Dinesh Binwal, isn't a worker of the party. Rathore argued that in public life, it's common for various individuals to take photographs with political leaders, and such instances shouldn't be construed as proof of political affiliation or formal membership. The BJP maintained that the opposition was attempting to create unnecessary controversy by linking the accused to the party without any basis.
Tika Ram Jully's Counter-Attack with Evidence
The controversy reached its climax on Thursday when Leader of the Opposition Tika Ram Jully countered Madan Rathore's claims with social media evidence. Jully shared posts from BJP MLA Mahendra Pal Meena's social media accounts, where the MLA had referred to the accused Dinesh Binwal as 'brother' while congratulating him. Jully further claimed that Binwal isn't just a common worker but holds the position of District Secretary for the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Jaipur Rural. He advised the BJP leadership to stop denying the facts and instead accept the truth regarding Binwal's active role within the party's youth wing.

Key Highlights of the Controversy
The political standoff has placed the NEET paper leak investigation under intense public scrutiny. While the Congress party continues to demand accountability and highlights the alleged political patronage of the accused, the BJP remains firm in its denial. The revelation of social media posts linking the accused to a sitting MLA has added a new layer of complexity to the case. As the investigation proceeds, the focus remains on whether the legal process will be influenced by these political developments or if the SOG will take decisive action against all individuals involved in the paper leak scandal.
