New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet on Wednesday with the heads of the five countries of Northern Europe (Nordic) Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Iceland, they are very important for India in many ways. The biggest thing is that these five countries are big advocates of India's permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The support of these countries can prove to be important for India in the future, because the way India is becoming a big global economic and political superpower, due to this, it is natural for changes in the United Nations in the future in which India can play a big role.

If experts are to be believed, the Nordic countries also agree with India's view that the entire United Nations, including the United Nations Security Council, needs to be reformed. India has raised this issue in many forums and these countries have supported it in their own way. The Indo-Nordic countries have agreed that the UN Security Council should be expanded. There should be an increase in the number of permanent and temporary seats. Both sides believe that countries should be more represented in the UN Security Council and become more accountable, effective and responsive to the challenges of the 21st century.

Apart from this, India's economic relations with Nordic countries are also strong. One is the growing trade between India and the Nordic countries, which has exceeded $ 13 billion annually. Actually, these are small countries, but their total economy is going to reach about two trillion dollars. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) enters India from Nordic countries. More than $3 billion in investments have come from these countries in recent years. Therefore, these countries are also important for India from both trade and investment point of view.

Nordic countries have green technology. Finland and Sweden are the countries that have the most green technology in the world. Denmark, Iceland and Norway are also not lagging behind in such technology. India's cooperation with these countries can prove to be important in tackling climate threats and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. This will enable it to get green technology. Many Indian companies have started cooperating with these countries in this area.

The Nordic countries are leaders in innovation. Today the emphasis is on innovation in India. The emphasis is on new startups. Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, is considered the hub of startups. India's emphasis is on new startups to strengthen the economy. Therefore cooperation with Nordic countries in the field of these innovations can be beneficial for India.

The first conference was held in 2018
