New Delhi : The opposition, which is sparring with the government on the suspension of MPs, has changed its strategy. With the siege of the government, the way of functioning in the house has been taken out. The opposition wants to surround the government by discussing various issues inside the house. On both Thursday and Friday, the opposition gave a clear signal of its strategic shift both inside and outside the House. On one hand, the suspended MPs continue to sit in front of the Gandhi statue. The opposition is raising this issue loudly outside the house, while inside the house, on the pretext of discussing different issues, the opposition is keeping its point vigorously.

Opposition leaders have decided that they will not disrupt the House and will also discuss important issues. Simultaneously, the suspended MPs will continue to dharna near the Gandhi statue in protest against the suspension from the House. Due to the change in the strategy of the opposition, the Rajya Sabha lasted till late evening on Thursday. On Friday also, work went on smoothly in the House.

Along with the work in the Upper House, private bills were also introduced.

A total of 21 private bills were introduced in the Rajya Sabha on Friday with various provisions including providing reservation to women at workplaces, setting up of a High Court bench in western Odisha, welfare of orphan children.

Opposition to Constitution Amendment Bill

Thereafter, BJP member KJ Alphons stood up to introduce the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2021 (Amendment of Preamble) with the permission of Asan. Opposing this, Manoj Jha of Rashtriya Janata Dal said that how can this Bill be allowed to be introduced in the House, as it is a Bill with provision to amend the Preamble of the Constitution.

Bill could not be introduced

On this, Deputy Chairman Harivansh said that under the rules, this bill can be kept in the house, but it is the job of the house to allow it to be introduced or not. Thereafter, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs V Muraleedharan proposed that the work of giving order regarding the introduction of this bill be deferred for the time being for the post. After his proposal, Alphonse's bill could not be introduced.
