PM Modi Rajasthan Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Rajasthan today, Thursday, September 25, 2025. He will arrive in Banswara, a visit that is particularly significant because it is located in a tribal-dominated region. During this visit, the PM will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth ₹1.08 lakh crore, including the foundation stone for the 2,800 MW Mahi Banswara Nuclear Power Project.

Significance of the Banswara Visit

Banswara, which borders Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, is a tribal-dominated region. This visit by the PM is strategically important for the BJP, as the Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) has challenged both the BJP and the Congress in recent elections. The BAP won three assembly seats and the Banswara Lok Sabha seat by a margin of 200,000 votes in the 2023 elections, significantly increasing its popularity.

Importance of the Nuclear Power Project

The Mahi Banswara Nuclear Power Plant, to be built near the Mahi Dam, will bring new hope for development to this backward region. This project, built at a cost of ₹42,000 crore, will not only increase energy production but also help the BJP challenge the growing influence of regional parties like the BSP through development politics.

Other Development Projects

  • ₹8,500 crore: Foundation stone laying for solar power and 59 MW hydropower projects.
  • ₹13,183 crore: Inauguration of power, irrigation, and renewable energy projects.
  • ₹5,884 crore: Water supply, irrigation, and drinking water projects.
  • ₹878 crore: Road and Panchayat development projects.
  • ₹348 crore: Power supply and rural electrification.
  • Total ₹10,710 crore: Inauguration of 1,400 MW solar power projects.
These include irrigation projects worth ₹3,132 crore, infrastructure projects worth ₹2,365 crore, and irrigation-cum-power projects worth ₹1,758 crore.

Political Context

The PM's visit comes as the BJP attempts to strengthen its foothold amid the growing popularity of the BJP. Earlier, BJP MP Rajkumar Roat staged a protest on Tuesday, staging a sit-in at the district collectorate to press his demands.

Event Preparations

The PM will address a public rally in Napla, where three domes have been built to accommodate over 100,000 people. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma reviewed the preparations on Wednesday. The CM, state ministers, and BJP state president Madan Rathore will also be present at the event.

Previous Visit

The PM's last visit to Rajasthan was on May 22, 2025, to Bikaner, where he visited Karni Mata Temple after Operation Sindoor, and addressed a public rally in Palana.
