Rajasthan PTI Recruitment: RSSB Implements Strict Rules to Curb Document Fraud

The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board has introduced mandatory document uploading during the application phase for PTI recruitment to prevent the recurrence of the 2022 fake degree scam.

The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB) is taking decisive steps to overhaul the recruitment process for Physical Training Instructors (PTI) in the state, while with the aim of eliminating the possibility of document forgery and ensuring a transparent selection process, the board has formulated a comprehensive action plan. This move comes as the state government prepares to initiate the recruitment process for approximately 1100 PTI positions. There are also strong indications that the number of vacancies could see an increase, with an additional 500 posts potentially being added before the examination currently proposed for September 13.

New Mandatory Requirements for Candidates

In a significant departure from previous practices, the board has introduced a mandatory requirement for candidates at the very beginning of the application process. Ed) marksheets and relevant sports certificates at the time of filling out the online application form, while this rule is designed to create a permanent record of the credentials a candidate claims to possess at the start of the recruitment cycle.

The board has made it explicitly clear that the documents submitted during the application phase must match the documents presented during the physical verification stage, while if a candidate attempts to present a different certificate or document during the verification process than the one uploaded initially, their candidature will be summarily rejected. This strict matching policy is intended to prevent candidates from acquiring fraudulent certificates after they've cleared the written examination.

Lessons from the PTI Recruitment 2022 Scam

The impetus for these stringent measures stems from the massive irregularities uncovered during the PTI Recruitment 2022. Investigations into that recruitment cycle revealed a widespread network of fake degrees and certificates. The scale of the fraud was so extensive that it involved institutions outside of Rajasthan, specifically pointing towards Satya Sai University in Madhya Pradesh and JS University in Uttar Pradesh. The Special Operations Group (SOG) had to intervene, conducting raids on these universities to dismantle the racket providing fake educational credentials to aspirants.

Chairman Alok Raj on Preventing Future Fraud

Major General Alok Raj, the Chairman of the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board, emphasized that the board is committed to preventing a repeat of the 2022 situation. He noted that during the investigation of the 2022 recruitment, approximately 1200 cases were identified where there was a discrepancy between the documents mentioned in the application and those produced during verification. In most of these instances, candidates attempted to deflect blame by citing errors made by e-Mitra kiosks during the form-filling process.

However, the Chairman pointed out that these discrepancies were clearly intentional. The investigation suggested that many candidates only purchased their degree certificates after they realized they had a chance of selection. By mandating the upload of documents at the time of application, the board aims to close this loophole. The message from the board is clear: no excuses regarding technical errors or third-party mistakes will be accepted if the documents don't align perfectly with the initial submission.
