Rajasthan Weather Update: Rain and Hailstorm Alert Issued for 25 Districts

Rajasthan experiences a significant weather shift as rain and hailstorms lash Ajmer and Nagaur. The Meteorological Department has issued alerts for 25 districts due to active weather systems, with more Western Disturbances expected to arrive from June 3.

The weather patterns in Rajasthan have undergone a complete transformation over the past week, providing much-needed relief to residents who were previously struggling under the scorching sun and intense heatwaves. While the movement of clouds has made the atmosphere pleasant, the accompanying dust storms and sudden rainfall have also introduced new challenges for the local population. Following the accurate predictions made by the Meteorological Department, the weather took a dramatic turn on Monday afternoon, specifically affecting regions such as Ajmer and Nagaur.

Impact on Ajmer and Surrounding Areas

In Ajmer, the weather changed abruptly following the forecast issued by the weather office. Several parts of the city, including the famous International Dargah Bazaar area and various rural pockets, witnessed heavy torrential rainfall lasting for approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Along with the heavy downpour, intense hailstorms were reported in many localities. This sudden change brought a significant drop in temperature, making the weather pleasant and providing a cool respite from the summer heat.

Dust Storms and Hail in Nagaur

The situation was similar in Nagaur, where both the city and its surrounding rural areas were hit by strong dust storms followed by rain. Reports indicate that heavy hailstorms occurred in several locations within the district, further intensifying the impact of the weather shift. The combination of high-speed winds and hail has been a cause of concern for residents, even as it cooled down the environment.

Scientific Reasons Behind the Sudden Change

According to weather scientists, the current atmospheric conditions in Rajasthan are being driven by two major active systems. One system is positioned over North-Eastern Rajasthan, while another is active over South-Western Rajasthan and its adjoining areas. Due to these dual systems, the Meteorological Department had predicted moderate to heavy thunderclouds, dust storms with speeds ranging from 40 to 50 Kmph, and light to moderate rainfall accompanied by hailstorms in parts of Bikaner, Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Jodhpur, and Kota divisions on Monday.

Alert Issued for 25 Districts

The Meteorological Department has placed 25 districts under Yellow and Orange alerts for the coming hours. The districts identified for potential heavy dust storms and rain include Nagaur, Karauli, Kotputli-Behror, Bhilwara, Tonk, Beawar, Dausa, Bikaner, Phalodi, Jodhpur, Didwana-Kuchaman, Churu, Sikar, Jaipur, Ajmer, Bundi, Kota, Baran, Jhalawar, Chittorgarh, Dholpur, Bharatpur, Deeg, and Sawai Madhopur. Residents in these areas are advised to remain cautious as the weather remains volatile.

Upcoming Western Disturbances from June 3

The weather office has further warned that the cycle of thunder, lightning, dust storms, and rain is likely to continue across the state for another week. This persistent weather activity means there is a low probability of any significant rise in temperatures in the near future, while a new Western Disturbance is expected to become active starting June 3 and June 4. Under its influence, divisions including Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Ajmer are likely to experience more dust storms and rain, with wind speeds potentially reaching between 60 and 70 kilometers per hour.
