The world-famous Ram Mandir in Ayodhya has become the center of a political storm following serious allegations of financial irregularities. Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that a significant amount of money, running into crores of rupees from the temple offerings, has gone missing. Taking to the social media platform X, Yadav linked the matter to the faith of the global Sanatani community and raised sharp questions directed at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust and the Yogi Adityanath-led government. He further urged the court to take suo motu cognizance of the matter to ensure transparency and justice.
The Trust's Firm Response to Allegations
In response to these grave accusations, the Ram Mandir Trust has issued a stern clarification, while dinendra Das, a prominent member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, expressed his unwavering faith in Lord Ram and the integrity of the Trust members. He stated that if any individual has committed any wrongdoing, they will eventually face divine punishment from Lord Ram himself. However, addressing the demand for transparency, he clarified that the Trust has no objection to an official investigation if anyone harbors doubts. He emphasized that the Trust would fully accept any decision made by the government or the administration. According to Das, no such errors or discrepancies have occurred within the Trust, but he welcomed an inquiry as a means to clear any suspicions.
Escalation of Allegations by Pawan Pandey
The controversy was further fueled by former Samajwadi Party MLA Pawan Pandey, who expanded on the allegations. He claimed that the amount of stolen money could potentially reach crores of rupees. Pandey challenged the Trust's leadership, stating that if no theft has occurred, then Champat Rai, the General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, should come forward and swear an oath by Lord Shri Ram that all allegations are false. He further demanded that if the allegations are true, an FIR should be registered immediately. Pandey pointed out that it remains unclear how long this alleged theft has been taking place and demanded an investigation into which members of the Trust might have received this money.
Champat Rai Clarifies Audit Procedures
Addressing the claims made by Pawan Pandey, Champat Rai, the General Secretary of the Trust, provided a detailed explanation of the financial oversight mechanisms in place, while he stated that for everyone's information, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust undergoes regular internal audits. These audits involve representatives from both the Trust and the State Bank of India. He noted that the audit process typically spans several days and is currently ongoing. Rai emphasized that so far, no remarkable or suspicious findings have emerged from these audits, countering the narrative of a financial scam.
How Donations are Managed and Audited
The Trust also detailed the transparent process through which offerings at the Ram Mandir are handled to prevent any misappropriation.
The details of these offerings are regularly shared during Trust meetings. The last time such information was shared in a meeting was in December 2025. The Trust maintains that this multi-layered security and audit system ensures that every rupee donated by devotees is accounted for and utilized appropriately.
