In a significant development in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, the local administration has carried out a demolition drive against an illegal structure built on government land, while during the demolition of Masjid Mustafa Qadri in Kaserua village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Nakhasa police station, authorities recovered several posters with the slogan 'I Love Mohammad' along with other materials described as objectionable. Following this discovery, the police have officially registered a case against the members of the Jamia Committee.
Recovery of Materials and Police Action
The recovery of the posters and other items occurred while the administrative team was clearing the illegal encroachment. ASP Kuldeep Singh of Sambhal provided details regarding the incident, stating that the materials were found within the premises during the removal of the unauthorized structure, while he confirmed that based on these findings, an FIR has been lodged against the members of the Jamia Committee under relevant sections of the law. The police are currently investigating the nature of the materials found to determine further legal steps.
Demolition of the 1200 Square Meter Structure
The mosque, known as Masjid Mustafa Qadri, was reportedly constructed on approximately 1200 square meters of government land. According to revenue records, the land is registered under Gata Number 409 as graveyard land. The demolition process was initiated following an eviction order issued by the Tehsildar court. To ensure the operation proceeded without any law and order issues, the entire village of Kaserua was turned into a high-security zone. A massive deployment of police personnel and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) was seen at every corner of the area.
Two-Day Operation and Structural Removal
The demolition drive spanned over two days, starting on Saturday and continuing into Sunday. On the first day, the administrative team focused on the front portion of the mosque, the outer structure, the pillars, and a prominent 55 foot high minaret. On Sunday, the bulldozers returned to the site to dismantle the remaining parts of the structure. After several hours of continuous work, the disputed construction was almost entirely removed from the government land. Throughout the operation, the administration maintained strict vigilance to prevent any untoward incidents, with heavy police presence remaining on-site until the task was completed. It's also noted that an FIR had previously been registered against 7 individuals in this matter in January 2026.
