Whenever a guest comes to our house, first of all the name of Bikaneri Bhujia and Rasgulla comes in our mouth. Do you know that Bikanerwala started out with a street-to-lane selling rasgullas and namkeen in buckets. Who has a hand in building such a big brand is 83 year old Lala Kedarnath Agarwal (Kaka ji) and his family. In 1955, Kedarnath Agarwal went from Bikaner to Delhi with his elder brother to earn money. After going there, he did not even think that he would become so famous that his name would be in the whole world. But his journey was not that easy.

Let us tell you, when Kedarnath Agrawal ji went to Delhi, he had no place to live, then he lived in Dharamsala for many days. When there was no way to earn, he started selling rasgullas and namkeen in buckets and roaming the streets. Gradually people started liking the taste of their rasgulla and namkeen and their income also started increasing. As his income increased, he rented a shop in Old Delhi. When there was a need for an artisan to make sweets and snacks at the shop, he called some people from Bikaner.

Within a few days, this small shop of his became famous in the whole area. The people of Moong Halwa, Rasgulla and Namkeen made by him on the occasion of Diwali were completely convinced and their income increased tremendously. When the crowd of people increased, he made it a rule for his shop that he would not give more than 10 rasgullas to anyone. Till now the name of his shop was 'Bikaneri Bhujia Bhandar' which had become a trademark.

A few days later, Kedarnath Agarwal's elder brother Jugal Kishore suggested that he change the name of his shop from 'Bikaneri Bhujia Bhandar' to 'Bikanervala'. Kedarnath Agarwal liked this suggestion of his elder brother. The reason behind this was that this would make his city Bikaner famous among the people. After that he changed the name of his shop to 'Bikanervala' and within a few days people started knowing his shop as Bikanerwala.
