Tauktae Cyclone / Toute in Gujarat, 45 people have died in 12 districts so far

Ahmedabad. Around 45 people died due to cyclonic storm Tauktae Cyclone in 12 districts of Gujarat (Gujarat). Officials said on Wednesday that 15 people died in the worst-hit Saurashtra region due to the cyclone. The storm passed off the state's coast in the form of a severe cyclonic storm on Monday night and knocked over the state around late one and a half hours.

An official of the State Disaster Campaign Center said that eight people each died in Bhavnagar and Gir Somnath coastal districts. Five people died in Ahmedabad, two in Kheda, one each in Anand, Valsad, Surat, Valsad, Rajkot, Navsari and Panchmahal districts, the official said.

He said that 24 people died due to falling walls during the storm, while six people died due to falling trees on them. Five people died due to collapse of the house and the current, four people died due to collapse of the roof and one person died due to the collapse of the tower.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday conducted an aerial survey of the affected areas of Gujarat and Union Territory of Diu to take stock of the damage caused by the cyclone Toute. PM Modi arrived in Bhavnagar today on a one-day Gujarat round to take stock of the damage caused by the cyclone where Chief Minister Vijay Rupani welcomed him.
