GURUGRAM / Two officers arrested for taking bribe in the name of giving GST number, Vigilance team took action

Two officials, who took bribe in the name of giving GST number for doing business of building material, were arrested red handed by the team of State Vigilance Bureau, Karnal on Monday. A team caught lady inspector Sumitra Godara red handed in the GST office located in Sector-34 of Gurugram. After that the second team caught another officer ETO Roshanlal in Faridabad. A case has been registered against both the officers under the Corruption Act.


Inspector Sumit Kumar of the Vigilance team that took action said that a person had applied for GST number in April to work as a building material supplier in Faridabad. Once his application was rejected, he applied again. Along with this, when he met the ETO posted in Faridabad, he told him to contact Inspector Sumitra Godara posted in Gurugam. Roshanlal says Sumitra will help you. She has worked with him in the past. She will tell all what to do to get the GST number.


After this the victim contacted the Gurugram Women Inspector. He told that this work will cost seven lakh rupees. Two lakh rupees will have to be paid in advance. Other money will have to be given after the work is done. After this the victim contacted Vigilance's toll free number. At the same time, he also requested that this action should not be done by the team of Faridabad and Gurugam but by the team of any other district.

The responsibility of this action was entrusted to SP Karnal Rajesh Phogat from DG Vigilance level. For this, the SP handed over the water to the lady Inspector Saroj and Karnal Vigilance Inspector Sumit Kumar. Trap was laid by both the inspectors in Gurugram and Faridabad to nab the corrupt.


First of all, GST Inspector Sumitra Godara in Gurugram was caught red handed by the team of Panipat while taking two lakhs. Soon after Sumitra's arrest, another team from Karnal nabbed Roshanlal from Faridabad. Both the accused were brought to the Vigilance Headquarters Gurugram. Where a case has been registered against him under the Corruption Act. The accused will be produced in the court on Tuesday and will be taken on remand.


The accused have been arrested under the Corruption Act. Two lakh rupees have been recovered red handed from them. During the remand, the people responsible for the bribe will be investigated.
