Over ₹101 crore lies unclaimed in 2.86 lakh bank accounts in Udaipur. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched the 'Aapki Punji, Aapka Adhikar' (Your Capital, Your Right) campaign to return these deposits to their rightful owners. A special camp will be held in Udaipur on November 1, 2025, to assist with the claim process.

A significant financial initiative has been launched in Rajasthan's Udaipur district, aiming to return hundreds of crores of rupees to their rightful owners, which have been lying 'unclaimed' in bank accounts for years, while a staggering sum of ₹101. 47 crore is currently lying as unclaimed deposits across 2,86,243 bank accounts in the district. This situation not only represents a loss for the account holders' families but also poses a considerable challenge to the nation's financial system. To address this issue, under the directives of the Government of India, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has initiated a. Nationwide campaign titled 'Aapki Punji, Aapka Adhikar' (Your Capital, Your Right), with the goal of raising awareness and simplifying the claim process.

Special Camp Organized in Udaipur

As part of this campaign, a special camp will be organized at a private resort located in Bhuwana, Udaipur city, starting at 10 AM on November 1, 2025. This camp will be chaired by RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra, and its primary objective is to assist citizens with issues related to unclaimed deposits. Officials from all major banks, including the State Bank of India (SBI), along with representatives from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), insurance companies, and pension funds, will be present at this camp. This presents a unique opportunity for citizens to gather information about their unclaimed assets and receive assistance in understanding the claim process.

Leading District Manager Sanjay Kumar Gupta highlighted the importance of this campaign, explaining that often due to a lack of. Awareness or unfortunate circumstances, individuals fail to declare nominees for their bank accounts or other financial assets during their lifetime. Consequently, after their demise, these assets remain unclaimed in banks or other financial institutions. The main objective of the 'Aapki Punji, Aapka Adhikar' campaign is to ensure that these dormant funds reach their legitimate heirs, enabling them to use their capital. This campaign is a crucial step towards financial inclusion and consumer protection.

Assistance Available at the Camp

The special camp organized in Udaipur will provide assistance related to various types of unclaimed assets. This includes not only unclaimed bank deposits but also information and assistance with the claim process for unclaimed insurance claims, unclaimed dividends, unclaimed shares, and mutual funds, while this camp is a golden opportunity for those who are unaware of such unclaimed assets belonging to their family members or who are facing difficulties with the claim process. Sanjay Kumar Gupta further informed that the RBI has launched a centralized portal called 'UDGAM' (Unclaimed Deposits Gateway to Access Information) to facilitate access to information about unclaimed deposits. This portal helps any citizen find out about unclaimed deposit amounts lying in any bank under their name or the name of any family member. It's a user-friendly platform that simplifies access to information and enhances transparency, while this portal is particularly useful for individuals searching for potential unclaimed deposits across various banks.

How to Use the UDGAM Portal

The process of obtaining information about unclaimed deposits using the UDGAM portal is simple and straightforward. First, citizens need to visit the official website of the UDGAM portal. If they're first-time users, they will need to register by entering their mobile number. Registered users can log in directly using their credentials. After logging in, some essential details must be entered to search for unclaimed deposits, such as the account holder's name, PAN number, Aadhaar number, Voter ID, or date of birth. This portal currently provides information on unclaimed deposits in 30 banks. Once a user identifies which bank holds their unclaimed deposit, they must directly contact that bank's website or branch. The bank will provide detailed information about the process for claiming the unclaimed deposit, and necessary documents such as proof of identity, proof of address, and proof of deposit will need to be submitted when making the claim. The claim for the return of the deposit must be made through the respective bank.

Information on unclaimed deposits is currently available for 30 banks on the UDGAM portal.
