Preparations are underway for the resumption of talks between the United States and Iran. According to reports, negotiations between the two countries could take place next week in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. It's reported that both sides are working on a 14-point agreement proposal with the help of mediating countries. The objective of this agreement is to establish a framework for month-long negotiations to end the ongoing tension and conflict between the two nations.
The 14-Point Proposal and Key Disputes
According to the report, the proposal includes issues such as Iran's nuclear program, reducing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, and transferring Iran's high-enriched uranium to another country. However, consensus has not yet been reached on several critical matters. The biggest disputes revolve around the nuclear program and the provision of relief from sanctions imposed on Iran by the United States. These points remain the primary hurdles in the upcoming diplomatic engagement.
The Strategic Role of Mujtaba Khamenei
Meanwhile, new information has emerged regarding Iran's new Supreme Leader, Mujtaba Khamenei, while uS intelligence agencies believe that Mujtaba Khamenei is playing a major role in determining war strategy and managing negotiations with the US. The report states that while Iran's power structure is currently quite fragmented, Mujtaba Khamenei is making decisions in coordination with senior officials. Mujtaba Khamenei has not been seen in public for a long time. His father and several high-ranking Iranian military officials were killed in a major attack at the beginning of the war. Mujtaba was also seriously injured in that same attack. A few days later, he was declared the new Supreme Leader of Iran, while however, US agencies have not yet been able to confirm his current location.
Health Status and Security Protocols
The report also mentions that Mujtaba Khamenei isn't using any electronic devices. He's completely away from mobile phones or the internet. He only meets with people who reach him directly or communicates through messengers, while for security reasons, he's being kept in a highly secret location where his treatment continues. According to sources, there are severe burn marks on his face, hands, legs, and other parts of his body. However, Mazahar Hosseini, the head of protocol at the Iranian Supreme Leader's office, stated that Mujtaba Khamenei is now recovering. He mentioned that there were minor injuries to his legs and back, and a small piece of shrapnel was behind his ear, but his condition is now better.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also recently stated that he held a two-and-a-half-hour meeting with Mujtaba Khamenei. This is considered the first public acknowledgment of a meeting between a top Iranian leader and the new Supreme Leader.
