New Delhi: A lockdown has been in place since April 19 in view of the fast spreading corona infection in the capital Delhi. This lockdown is increasing daily the problems of poor people who work as laborers or street vendors. Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has made a big announcement in the interest of poor people on Tuesday. All ration card holders residing in Delhi will get free ration for the next two months.

CM Arvind Kejriwal said in a press conference that we have decided that all ration card holders in Delhi (about 72 lakh in number) will be given free ration for the next 2 months. He points out that this does not mean that the lockdown will continue for 2 months. This is being done only to help the poor going through financial issues.

CM Arvind Kejriwal further said that the Delhi government will provide Rs 5000 as financial assistance to all taxi and auto drivers so that they can get some help during this financial crisis. CM said that this will help one lakh 65 thousand drivers.
