The political atmosphere in Uttar Pradesh has intensified as Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) president Om Prakash Rajbhar engaged in a fierce war of words. Akhilesh Yadav has officially labeled Om Prakash Rajbhar as a rumor-mongering minister and leveled serious allegations of corruption against him. This confrontation began after Rajbhar made bold claims regarding a potential split within the Samajwadi Party, suggesting that its MPs are looking for an exit strategy.
Rajbhar Claims Imminent Split in Samajwadi Party
On Thursday, Uttar Pradesh Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar reiterated his claim that a split in the Samajwadi Party is inevitable. He suggested that Akhilesh Yadav should immediately launch a Save Your MPs campaign to prevent his leaders from leaving. Rajbhar further claimed that a group of rebel SP MPs would soon emerge under the leadership of a prominent leader from Ballia. According to Rajbhar, the internal dissatisfaction within the SP is reaching a breaking point, and the leadership is failing to address the concerns of its elected representatives.
Akhilesh Yadav Responds with Corruption Allegations
Responding to these claims via his official X handle, Akhilesh Yadav didn't hold back. He termed Rajbhar as an Afwahi (rumor-monger) minister and accused him of being involved in large-scale corruption. Yadav alleged that Rajbhar has been collecting advances in exchange for promising transfer-postings and government contracts. He specifically pointed towards the Panchayati Raj Department, which Rajbhar oversees, suggesting a major scam is brewing within the ministry.
In a detailed post titled Panchayati-Samachar, Akhilesh Yadav wrote that after ticket seekers, now officials and contractors are conducting a Dhundhai Panchayat (search meeting). He claimed that until yesterday, only prospective candidates were searching for the minister after paying advances for tickets, but now that the rumor of 30 seats has been exposed, the situation has changed. Yadav stated that even if Rajbhar manages to get seats, he isn't in a position to win. He further alleged that AE, JE, and AMA officers, along with departmental contractors, are now holding meetings to track down the minister because they had paid advances for transfers and contracts. Yadav remarked that the very money Rajbhar used to fuel his big talk is now turning against him.
Rajbhar Counter-Attacks on Brahmin Sentiment
Om Prakash Rajbhar responded to Akhilesh Yadav's post by shifting the focus to caste politics. He claimed that the way Brahmins were allegedly insulted during a conference at the SP office on Wednesday deeply hurt the sentiments of the people of Ballia, while rajbhar stated that while the plan for a split was already in motion, this incident acted as fuel to the fire. He advised Akhilesh Yadav to stop focusing on social media politics and press conferences and instead focus on retaining his party leaders. Rajbhar also took a swipe at the Saifai family, stating that they wasted time abusing him and giving clarifications instead of managing their own party.
Shivpal Yadav Dismisses Rajbhar Claims
Senior SP leader Shivpal Yadav also weighed in on the controversy, dismissing Rajbhar's statements as mere tactics for TRP. Shivpal stated that the BJP and its allies frequently resort to lies and conspiracies. He asserted that no SP MP would leave the party and that Rajbhar makes such claims only to increase his relevance during election cycles. Shivpal went as far as to suggest that Rajbhar might be getting paid to post such tweets. He concluded by saying that under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party will form the government in Uttar Pradesh in 2027, and noted that no one in the state takes Om Prakash Rajbhar seriously.
