Bank Holidays: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has instructed all agency banks to open branches for government work on March 31. March 31 is Sunday and it is the last day of the current financial year. Many important transactions are completed on this date. For this reason, the Central Bank has ordered all banks to keep their branches open.

RBI issued statement

The RBI said in the statement that the Government of India has requested to keep all branches of banks related to government receipts and payments open for transactions on March 31, 2024 (Sunday) so that all the branches related to receipts and payments in the financial year 2023-24. So that accounts of government transactions can be maintained, it said that similarly, agency banks are advised to keep all their branches related to government business open on March 31, 2024 (Sunday).

Also, RBI has told banks that all branches will remain open on March 31. Give this information to customers. Let us tell you, the list of agency banks of RBI includes Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Axis Bank, City Union Bank, DCB Bank, Federal Bank, Names of many other banks including HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank are also included.

Income tax also canceled the holiday

Earlier, the long weekend falling from March 29 to March 31 has been canceled by the Income Tax Department due to pending tax related work. There was a holiday on March 29 due to Good Friday, March 30 on Saturday and March 31 on Sunday. The statement issued by the Income Tax Department said that all Income Tax offices will be kept open on March 29, 30 and 31 to clear the outstanding work of the department.
