Delhi Liquor Home Delivery: There is good news for the people who are fond of liquor and home delivery of liquor may start soon in the national capital Delhi. Officials said that a Group of Ministers (GoM) of the Delhi government has recommended this. Officials said that the proposals for home delivery and other recommendations of the GoM with regard to the Excise Policy 2022-23 will be placed before the Delhi Cabinet for approval.

Will liquor be cheap again in Delhi?

The Group of Ministers of the Delhi Government also expressed the view that as long as the market is operating in a healthy manner, there should be no restriction on the discount being given by the retail liquor sellers on the price. The Delhi government had recently limited the discount on liquor to 25 per cent in view of the crowd outside retail outlets and some alleged malpractices.

Home delivery may be allowed soon

"The Group of Ministers has recommended that home delivery of liquor may be allowed from retail liquor shops in Delhi," said an official document, citing the GoM meeting held last month. The GoM is of the view that home delivery is the best option to ensure the supply of liquor during the lockdown imposed in case of pandemic or emergency. Apart from this, it is also effective in ensuring equitable distribution of liquor, curbing the consumption of spurious liquor and preventing inter-state smuggling.

How will home delivery of liquor be done?

The Excise Department proposes that home delivery can be done by empaneled middlemen, who will collect the liquor from the retailer concerned and deliver it to the respective localities through an order received by the agency chosen to do the home delivery. .

Excise Department will issue license

The Excise Department will issue a separate license for home delivery of liquor. According to the document, after the cabinet approves the home delivery proposal, the Excise Department will prepare detailed rules and references for granting L-13 license. He will study various models adopted by other states of the country. The selected agencies empaneled will have L-13/L-13F license, which will enable such units to do home delivery.
