Morbi Bridge Collapse: A public interest litigation has been filed in the Supreme Court in the case related to the collapse of a 150-year-old cable-stayed bridge in Morbi, Gujarat. Accepting the petition, the Supreme Court has fixed the first hearing of the matter on November 14. At the same time, if we talk about the accident, then the death toll in this tragedy has reached 135. Today one more patient died in Morbi Hospital. At the same time, PM Narendra Modi can visit the hospital today and meet the injured.

According to news agency ANI, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Supreme Court by a lawyer. In which the advocate has also sought a direction to the state governments to form a committee for survey and risk assessment of old and risky monuments and bridges to ensure environmental viability and safety. The petition has also sought a direction to the Permanent Disaster Investigation Team in the states to join such tragedies immediately. Accepting the petition, the Supreme Court has fixed November 14 as the date of hearing.

Significantly, a suspension bridge built during the British era crashed on Sunday. The death toll in this horrific accident has reached 135. While many people are injured and are undergoing treatment at Morbi Hospital. When this bridge crashed at around 6.30 pm, it was packed with people. According to information, the century-old bridge was reopened five days ago after extensive repairs and renovations.

nine people arrested

Meanwhile, the police on Monday arrested nine people, including four from the Orewa group. These include two managers and two ticket booking clerks from the Orewa Group, which manages the bridge. Along with this, a case has also been registered against the firms working for maintenance and operation. Video footage of the incident on Sunday evening also surfaced, showing the bridge collapsing within seconds. Information is also coming to the fore that the bridge was re-opened five days ago after extensive repairs, but the fitness certificate was not there.
