India-Canada Relations: Canada has made a major allegation that India and Pakistan had tried to "interfere" in the elections held in Canada in 2019 and 2021. The Canadian spy agency has made this allegation, an allegation which India has "strongly" rejected on Friday. According to a media report released, India has called this a false allegation. This was said after the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) investigated possible election interference by China, India, Russia and other countries in the 2019 and 2021 elections. However, India's Foreign Ministry has said that these allegations of Canada are baseless.

This allegation was made by Canada in February. Responding to these interference claims, spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had said that it is Canada which is interfering in India's internal affairs. So, according to the Canadian document, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation report states that, there were attempts by India and Pakistan to interfere in the Canadian elections.

Canada has made big allegations against India-Pakistan

Media reports have claimed that Canada's Federal Commission for Investigation of Foreign Interference is probing allegations of interference by India in the last two general elections. CSIS alleges in the documents that in 2021, the Indian government "intended to interfere and possibly conducted covert activities in Canada, including using an Indian government proxy agent."

In 2019, "Pakistan government officials in Canada attempted to covertly influence Canadian federal politics for the purpose of advancing the interests of the Government of Pakistan in Canada," the report said, citing CSIS documents.

India rejected Canada's claims

The Canadian spy agency alleges that in 2021, the Indian government's foreign interference activities were "focused on a small number of electoral districts". "The Indian government targeted Indian-Canadian voters, a portion of whom were sympathetic to the Khalistani movement or had pro-Pakistan political stances," the document said.
