New Delhi: Today the financial budget for the year 2022-23 has been announced, in which the automobile world has got a gift, especially for electric vehicles. Apart from this, while delivering the budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, "Blending of fuel is the priority of the government. To encourage blended fuel, the price of non-blending fuel is going to be increased by Rs 2 per liter from October 1, 2022."

what is blended fuel

Blended fuel means mixing ethanol with petrol. Ethanol is a bio fuel that does not harm the environment when burned. The Government of India is making all efforts to bring this fuel into circulation and now if you want to use petrol without ethanol mixed with it from October, then you will have to pay Rs 2 more per liter for it.

Blend with ethanol 8 percent of the total petrol

At present, ethanol is being mixed with petrol on many scales in different cities of many states of the country. State-run fuel companies such as Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum, and Bharat Petroleum sell ethanol-mixed petrol, while almost all private companies are selling pure petrol, that is, not adding ethanol to it. If we look at the average figure, state-run fuel companies are selling 8 percent of the total petrol by blending it with ethanol.

Strong signal for everyone's participation

In remote parts of the country where ethanol production or storage capacity is low, small amounts of ethanol are mixed with petrol. On this decision of the government, Director General, Indian Sugar Mills Association, Abinash Verma said, “The government has given a strong signal for the participation of all in the fuel blending program and the blended fuel should be supplied in sufficient quantity across the country.” Let us tell you that 90 percent of the petrol pumps across the country are run by state-run companies.
