The opening day will be dedicated to honoring senior legislators, former speakers, and deputy speakers who have shaped the state's political landscape. The conference will dive into into various critical topics, including the evolution of democracy, parliamentary experiences, modern challenges, and the ongoing digitalization of the assembly.
Four Major Programs Throughout the Year
Speaker Vasudev Devnani explained that the Amrit Mahotsav will consist of four primary programs held over the course of the year. These programs will feature special sessions led by parliamentary and constitutional experts, while the focus of these sessions will be on strengthening democracy, refining the legislative process, and upholding constitutional values. By involving experts, the assembly aims to create a roadmap for future legislative excellence while honoring its rich history.
Discussion on 23 Historic Laws
A key highlight of the first program under the Amrit Mahotsav will be a specialized discussion on 23 significant laws passed by the Rajasthan Assembly since its inception. Veteran leaders, including former speakers, deputy speakers, and former ministers, will share their first-hand experiences regarding the drafting and impact of these legislations. Among the laws to be discussed are the Rajasthan Land Reforms and Resumption of Jagirs Act 1952 and the Rajasthan Zamindari and Biswedari Abolition Act 1959, which were instrumental in ending the jagirdari system and making farmers the owners of their land. Other notable legislations include the laws that implemented Panchayati Raj in Rajasthan and the Rajasthan Primary Education Act 1964. These discussions aim to provide a historical context to the legal framework that governs the state today.
Honoring Veteran Legislators
The celebration will also serve as a stage to honor the contributions of distinguished political figures, while speaker Devnani announced that former speakers Shantilal Chaplot, Sumitra Singh, Deependra Singh Shekhawat, Kailash Meghwal, and Dr. P. Joshi will be felicitated. On top of that, former deputy speakers Tara Bhandari, Ramnarayan Meena, and Rao Rajendra Singh will be recognized for their service. A special category of honors will be reserved for those senior leaders who have been elected to the assembly 6 or more times, as well as currently elected senior MLAs. This recognition highlights the dedication of those who have served the public through multiple legislative terms, ensuring that their experiences are valued by the newer generation of lawmakers.
