IND vs SA: The first match of the two-Test series between India and South Africa is being played in Centurion from today. South Africa won the toss and decided to bowl. The match was to start at 1:30 pm at the SuperSport Park ground, but the toss was delayed due to rain.

Prasidh Krishna is making his test debut

Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna is making his Test debut for India. Whereas from South Africa, Nandre Berger and David Bedingham have got a chance to make their Test debut. Ravindra Jadeja is not a part of the playing-11 due to injury.

The Indian team has not been able to win a single Test series in South Africa so far. The series is important for both the teams to reach the final of the World Test Championship (WTC).

India: Rohit Sharma (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), R Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna.

South Africa: Temba Bavuma (captain), Dean Elgar, Aiden Markram, Tony DeGeorge, Keegan Pietersen, David Bedingham, Kyle Varian (wk), Marco Yanson, Kagiso Rabada, Gerald Coetzee, Nandre Berger.

India could win only 17% of tests in South Africa

Team India played 8 series in South Africa, India lost the first 4 one-sidedly. For the first time in 2010, the series was a draw and from 2013 to 2021, Team India came close to winning the series thrice, but the team lost in all three. India played a total of 23 tests here and the team won only 4 tests i.e. 17.39% of the matches. The team lost 12 tests, while 7 matches were drawn.

A total of 15 test series have been played between India and South Africa so far. India won 4 of these, while South Africa won 8 and 3 series were drawn. Overall 42 tests were played between the two teams. India won 15 and South Africa won 17 matches, while 10 tests were drawn.

The Indian team is on South Africa tour for the series of all three formats. It started with the T-20 series. This three-match series was a 1-1 draw. After this the ODI series was played, which Team India won 2-1.
