Bilaspur Bus Accident / 18 Killed as Bus Hit by Landslide Debris in Himachal Pradesh

A bus carrying 30 passengers was hit by landslide debris near Bhallu Bridge in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, on Tuesday night. The tragic accident claimed 18 lives, with many critically injured. Rescue operations are underway, and both CM and PM have expressed condolences and announced relief.

Bilaspur Bus Accident: A major road accident occurred in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday night, resulting in the death of 18 people. A passenger bus was struck by sudden landslide debris from a hill near Bhallu Bridge. This tragic incident led to the on-the-spot death of 18 passengers, while several others sustained serious injuries, while approximately 30 passengers were reportedly on board the bus at the time of the accident. Witnessing the gravity of the accident, local residents immediately rushed to the site and began rescue operations, while they promptly informed the local police. Police and administrative teams arrived shortly thereafter. With the help of JCB machines, debris covering the bus was removed, and the injured were extracted and transported by ambulance to Ghumarwin Jhandutta Hospital. Initial reports suggest that six passengers died at the scene, while eight others succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. Three passengers were safely rescued, and information regarding others is being gathered.

CM and PM Express Condolences

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed deep sorrow over the bus accident. He extended condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the peace of the departed souls. The Chief Minister instructed the district administration to expedite relief and rescue operations and ensure the best possible treatment for the injured, while he's continuously monitoring the situation from Shimla. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled the Bilaspur accident. He stated that his thoughts and prayers are with the affected people and their families during this difficult time. An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) has been announced for the next of kin of the deceased. Prayers were offered for the speedy recovery of the injured.
