The landslide occurred in Pengshui County, where a sudden collapse of rocks and soil from a nearby hillside buried more than 10 residential buildings, trapping several residents inside their homes.

The incident took place at approximately 9:08 AM local time. The sheer force of the landslide was so immense that many residents were unable to escape in time. State broadcaster CCTV reported that the landslide caused severe damage to infrastructure, including a 5 story building and a 15 story building that were heavily impacted. In response to the emergency, authorities have evacuated more than 1100 people from the affected areas to ensure their safety and prevent further casualties.
