CM Yogi Slams Akhilesh Yadav Over Ayodhya Remarks Recalling Firing On Ram Bhaktas

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath criticized SP chief Akhilesh Yadav's vision for Ayodhya, reminding him of the firing on Ram devotees during the SP regime and challenging him to speak on Mathura.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched a scathing attack on Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav regarding his recent comments on the development of Ayodhya. Speaking at a public event in Hathras, the Chief Minister reminded the SP leader of his party's historical actions, specifically referencing the incidents where bullets were fired at Ram devotees (Ram Bhaktas). CM Yogi's remarks came as a sharp rebuttal to Akhilesh Yadav's vision for a future Ayodhya under a potential Samajwadi Party government.

The Historical Context and the Firing Incident

Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi Adityanath told Akhilesh Yadav to look back at his own history before making promises about the holy city. He stated, "Look at your history, your people were the ones who ordered firing on Ram devotees. " This statement refers to the historical events during the Samajwadi Party's influence in the state's politics. The Chief Minister accused the Samajwadi Party of consistently opposing religious traditions and development projects associated with Hindu faith and heritage.

Allegations of Obstructing Religious Festivals

CM Yogi further intensified his criticism by listing instances where the previous SP government allegedly hindered Hindu religious practices. He claimed that under the Samajwadi Party rule, celebrations of Krishna Janmashtami were prohibited even within police stations and jails. Also, he reminded the audience that the Kanwar Yatra, a significant annual pilgrimage, was also banned during their tenure. "Today, when Ayodhya is reminding everyone of the Treta Yug due to the hard work of Ram devotees and the leadership of PM Modi, you're suddenly showing interest," Yogi remarked, suggesting that the SP's current stance is opportunistic.

Development Priorities: Temples vs. Cemeteries

The Chief Minister highlighted a shift in development priorities under the current BJP administration. He mentioned that representatives from Hathras informed him about the beautification of more than 22 temples in the region. He questioned whether such work was possible during the Samajwadi Party's rule. According to CM Yogi, during the SP regime, public funds were primarily spent on constructing boundary walls for cemeteries (kabristans). He asserted that his government has redirected those funds toward the restoration and beautification of temples, ensuring that religious sites receive the respect they deserve.

The Challenge Regarding Mathura and Krishna Janmabhoomi

In a direct challenge to Akhilesh Yadav, CM Yogi urged him to visit Ayodhya for repentance. "Akhilesh ji, Ram devotees have already adorned and improved Ayodhya; you don't need to worry about it. Repent and have a darshan of Ram Lalla once; it will bring you wisdom (sadbuddhi)," he said. He then shifted the focus to Mathura, challenging the SP leader to speak openly about the birthplace of Lord Krishna. He accused the SP of kneeling before "Mullahs and Maulvis" and lacking an agenda for the state's actual development. He insisted that if Yadav truly considers himself religious, he should support the honor of Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura-Vrindavan.

Akhilesh Yadav's Original Statement

The controversy began after Akhilesh Yadav posted on the social media platform X, outlining his vision for Ayodhya. " He further promised to re-establish Ayodhya's eternal value as 'Siyaram-Dham' and restore the traditional pride and rights of the residents of Ayodhya. CM Yogi dismissed these claims, stating that Ayodhya isn't dependent on the Samajwadi Party for its identity.
