After imposing a complete 21-day curfew to break the chain of Covid19 infection, the Manipur government on Saturday lifted a statewide daytime curfew for 15 days until August 22. The nighttime stricture will remain in effect from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. 


The Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Rajesh Kumar, who is also the chair of the state executive committee of the Disaster Management Authority, issued an order on the matter on Saturday evening. 


“The inevitable religious and customary ceremonies may be performed in open hangars by limiting the number of guests to only 20,” the order said. “Micro containment areas will be strictly monitored by dedicated teams from the police and health services. 


The Order stipulates that new cases of Covid 19 must be isolated as soon as possible and taken to Covid care centres and that the health service must organize mobile medical teams for regular checks. He also called on the health department to step up its vaccination, contact tracing and testing campaign by providing more staff, mobility support and advocacy for the IEC (information, education and communication). 

 Previously, in consideration of the total curfew in effect since July 18, the state cabinet decided to adopt a micro-containment approach in line with the recommendations of the central government. to maintain a balance between the dual goal of saving lives and livelihoods through Activities.
