Bihar Politics: After the formation of the new government in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the first time today i.e. on Wednesday. He is also scheduled to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda. This meeting to be held in Delhi before the floor test on January 12 is considered very important. Earlier in September last year, Nitish had met PM Modi during the G-20 conference.

Janata Dal (United) general secretary KC Tyagi said, this is a courtesy meeting. Referring to the elections for the Upper House of Parliament to be held on February 27, he said, as far as the Rajya Sabha elections are concerned, nothing has been decided yet. Let us tell you that elections are to be held for 6 Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar. A JDU leader said that Nitish Kumar will also meet Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda in Delhi. Earlier on Monday, Bihar Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha had met the Prime Minister.

Rajya Sabha elections for 6 seats in Bihar

Talking about Rajya Sabha elections, the last date for filing nominations is 15th February. Notification for the elections is likely to be issued on Thursday. According to the numbers in Bihar Assembly, BJP and RJD will win two seats each and JDU will win one seat. No other party has the numbers to win the sixth seat on its own. However, the RJD-led grand alliance has the numbers to field a joint candidate.

Of the six vacant seats, two are with JDU, which are held by former president Bashistha Narayan Singh and Anil Hegde. Two are with RJD, which are held by Manoj Kumar Jha and Misa Bharti. One is with BJP and one with Congress, which is with its state unit president Akhilesh Prasad Singh.

However, the new arithmetic now gives two seats to BJP and one seat to JDU. In Bihar, a candidate needs the votes of 35 MLAs to get elected to the Rajya Sabha. BJP has 78 seats and JDU has 45 seats. NDA has the support of 128 members in the assembly, but it will need 140 members for four candidates.

RJD alone has 79 votes in the assembly, which guarantees two seats. The Grand Alliance has 115 votes for its third candidate. He only needs 105. However, Congress, which has only 19 seats, needs the support of its alliance partners to retain its seat.
