Flood threat increased in Delhi

Due to incessant rains in north India for the past few days and release of water from Hathini Kund barrage, the water level of Yamuna river in the national capital has reached an all-time high. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said Union Minister Gajendra Shekhawat has informed him that the amount of water being released from Himachal Pradesh to Haryana has reduced, resulting in an impact on the water level in the Yamuna.

Delhi is in danger due to rain in Himachal

The latest forecast of heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh from July 14 may result in rise in the water level in Yamuna and worsen the flood-like situation in parts of Delhi. Meanwhile, Kejriwal has requested people living in low-lying areas around Yamuna to vacate their houses immediately. PTI quoted Raj Niwas officials as saying that Delhi LG VK Saxena has called a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Thursday regarding the rising water level of the Yamuna.
