Bhupat has been a domineering leader of BJP

Bhupat Bhayani, who became an AAP MLA after winning the Visavadar assembly elections, has the image of a domineering leader. Leaving BJP before the assembly elections, he joined AAP. From this seat, the BJP had given ticket to Harshad Ribadia, who had left the Congress. Whereas, Karshan Vadodaria from Congress was in the fray. Bhupat had a direct fight with Harshad Ribadia, in which Bhupat defeated him by 6 thousand 904 votes. Bhupat got 65 thousand 675 votes and Harshad got 58 thousand 771 votes. The Visavadar assembly seat was won by the BJP in the elections of 1995, 1998, 2002 and 2007. But in 2012, this seat slipped out of BJP's hands and went to GPP's account. In the 2017 elections, Harshad Ribadia of INC defeated Kirit Patel of BJP. Harshad joined the BJP ahead of the 2022 assembly elections and contested, but lost to AAP's Bhupat.
