Pachpadra Refinery: India's First Greenfield Integrated Complex
One of the most significant highlights of the visit was the inauguration of the country's first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Pachpadra in Balotra. Built with an investment exceeding 79,450 crore rupees, this refinery is a monumental step towards making India self-reliant in energy security. Beyond its primary function, the refinery is expected to become a hub for ancillary industries and the development of plastic parks. This industrial growth is projected to provide large-scale employment to the youth of the Thar region, transforming the economic landscape of Western Rajasthan.
Jaipur Metro Phase 2: Revolutionizing Urban Transit
In a major boost to urban infrastructure, Prime Minister Modi virtually laid the foundation stone for the Jaipur Metro Phase 2 project. With a total cost of over 13,000 crore rupees, this phase will see the development of a 41 km long North-South corridor extending from Prahladpura to Todi Mod. The corridor will feature 36 stations and will connect vital industrial and residential hubs, including the Sitapura Industrial Area and the Vishwakarma Industrial Area (VKI). Key locations such as the Jaipur Airport, Tonk Road, SMS Hospital, SMS Stadium, Ambabari, and Vidhyadhar Nagar will be integrated into the metro network. 64 km corridor with 11 stations.
Bikaner Solar Energy Projects: Leading the Renewable Revolution
To position Rajasthan as a leader in renewable energy, the Prime Minister dedicated two major solar projects in Bikaner to the nation. The first is the 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project by SJVN Limited, developed with an investment of approximately 5,500 crore rupees. The second is the 300 MW Karnisar Solar Power Project by NHPC. To ensure the smooth supply of electricity generated from these plants, a power transmission line worth over 1,900 crore rupees was inaugurated. On top of that, the foundation stone for a new 530 km long power transmission system for the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) was also laid.
Infrastructure, Railways, and Aviation Upgrades
The Prime Minister also focused on enhancing regional connectivity and transport infrastructure. He inaugurated the state-of-the-art new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport and launched the revised UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme. This initiative aims to expand air services to remote areas and boost regional connectivity, benefiting tourism and trade. In the railway sector, projects worth 1,640 crore rupees were dedicated, including the 58 km Churu-Sadulpur and 46 km Churu-Ratangarh rail doubling projects, costing 900 crore rupees. Plus, the 4-lane construction of NH-125A on the Karwar-Dangiyawas section of the Jodhpur Ring Road, developed at a cost of 740 crore rupees, was inaugurated to make transport faster and safer.
Empowering the Youth with Employment
During the event, Prime Minister Modi distributed appointment letters to 54,000 youth of Rajasthan. He emphasized that these opportunities would provide a strong foundation for their bright futures and that they would play a crucial role in the state's development. The Prime Minister's visit underscores a comprehensive approach to growth, combining industrial advancement with direct social empowerment.
