Lumpy virus is a contagious disease of cattle. It is also called Capri pox virus. Mosquitoes, flies, lice and wasps etc. act as vectors of this disease. It is also being said that Lumpy virus infection spreads even by the consumption of contaminated food and water. Lumps form on the skin of animals infected with this virus, then they get sores. Cattle fever, runny nose, excessive salivation and eyesight are other symptoms. This disease is proving fatal.

There is no specific treatment available for this disease but the gotpox vaccine is being used as its diagnosis. The vaccine dose develops immunity in animals to fight infection. Apart from this, infected cattle are asked to keep separate.
