"We have herd immunity because of the delta variant"

CCMB director Vinay K. Stressing on the need to follow COVID appropriate behaviour, Nandikuri said that there is always a concern that all these variants have the ability to evade the immune system and can infect even those who have been vaccinated and even those infected with the Omicron form. He said, “The infection of the current variant is not as serious as the infection of the ‘Delta’ variant of the corona virus used to be. This is because we have 'herd immunity' to an extent. We actually have 'herd immunity' because we have been exposed to other viruses."

"What is happening in China cannot happen in India"

Media reports indicate that four cases of the BF.7 variant of the corona virus have been reported in India. He said, “We (India) have seen a delta wave, which was very severe. We've had vaccinations and then the Omicron wave came and we've continued with preventive doses. We are different in many ways. What is happening in China cannot happen in India. ”The Union Health Ministry said on Saturday that 201 new cases of Kovid-19 occurred in India, while the number of active patients increased to 3,397.

"Vaccination rate in India is higher than China"

The official said that the "zero covid policy" adopted by China is one of the main reasons for the rapid spread of the infection in the country. He said that the low rate of vaccination also increased the severity of the infection there. Nandikuri said, “The rate of vaccination in India is high. Precautionary doses have also been given to the elderly and susceptible population at large. However, it cannot be claimed that no wave of infection can come in India, but it does not seem that any wave of infection is coming immediately.
